Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
