'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepson had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She explained the defendant went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The legal representative explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the police a second time.
